PAT BROWN,
RESIDENT FLUTE INSTRUCTOR AT HMA
Dr. Patricia Brown, a long-standing member of the Texas Medical Center Orchestra, has joined the Houston Music Academy as an instructor. Coming from a classical flute background, she has studied with flutists from the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. She has played professionally for opera and ballet and as a session musician. She is a founding memeber of the classical group, Lyric Ensemble Houston which performs at the Children’s Museum, private functions, and exhibits. In June 2019 she performed for the third time at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Her style of teaching is based on patience, structure and self-accountability. She believes music making should always be fun and satisfying, acknowledging that it takes an amount of practice to achieve those goals. Her typical students range from beginners to intermediate level (children and adults). Previous students have achieved high levels within scholastic music organizations, such as the Royal Schools of Music.
