Guitar lessons are open to children and adults of all skill levels. Children at the age of 7 start to develop the finger dexterity and strength required for guitar. For younger students, we recommend our Ukulele Class. As always, Piano is always an excellent foundation instrument, providing your child with basic musical knowledge that can later be applied to guitar lessons when the student is older.

Houston Music Academy is committed to ensuring that students of all ages and abilities have a positive private lesson experience. Students are individually placed with a teacher based on learning style, experience, and musical interests.

Private lesson students also receive the benefit of multiple opportunities to perform in recitals, jams, workshops, and masterclasses.

Guitar Department

The Houston Music Academy Guitar Department includes acoustic guitar, electric guitar, ukulele, and bass guitar.

Requirements

Best to be 7+ years of age. All students will need an instrument for home practice between lessons.

Certificate of Accomplishment

Students who demonstrate proficiency on their instrument will receive a certificate of accomplishment.

Houston Music Academy’s Guitar Certificate Program provide students with a guided approach to guitar studies by setting yearly goals in melody, harmony, rhythm, technique, & repertoire. The Program is designed so that faculty members may tailor certain program requirements to each student’s unique needs, learning style, and interests. Students of all ages and levels are encouraged to join the program.

Our son has been participating at HMA since Spring 2017. He started taking guitar and voice classes and, at this moment, he is taking piano classes and doing a great learning progress with the instructional support.

Studio Class

Interact and share

Studio classes foster community and comradery among students who are studying with the same teacher. During studio classes, participants have the chance to practice performing for one another, to share their process on specific musical projects, and to offer feedback and encouragement to their peers, in a supportive environment.
